The Rules (october 2006 Edition)

These ones replace the original rules and regs - consider these ones the defacto ones.

1. We allow profanity to a degree, however this is a 3d forum for users of 3d applications and whilst we do have a general non 3d related forum, I would ask users to self moderate their language and posted images. For moderators and users a good rule of thumb is to imagine your Engish Teacher from when you were at school is reading what you just posted. They allowed you to use some swearing in context and in moderation were it relevant to the actual writing in question (ie, modern english).
2. Cat threads - Do NOT encourage threads full of cat macro images please. If a thread is a complete train wreck with someone having been banned or made to wear the asshat then an admin or moderator will announce it as a cat thread. Otherwise keep the cat images safe for use later.
3. No warez - requests or offers of any kind. You will be warned with a 2 year ban. Dont even joke about Warez even.
4. No porno - I am aware of the beauty of the human form and approve as much as anyone else when I see a fine piece of modelling / physiological study. Nudity in this instance is fine - I would however ask anyone who is posting a thread containing nudity to add the tab [nudity] to the thread title. Posting poser make nudes or porn will result in a 10 year warning ban.
5. Cliques - if you dont know what one is, look it up. I dont tolerate cliques as they cause stagnation and hamper growth of a forum. If I discover elitism and cliques I will remove all persons involved from this forum.
6. Flaming - If you want to flame please go buy an account at somethingawful.com and post in the FYAD forums a lot - you will have a great time. If you flame here you will be banned however. I dont mind particually a 'heated debate' where you are perhaps discussing the merits of X over Y however watch yourselves. I will ban all flamers in a thread.
7. Malware or other useless crap - autoban.
8. Advertising - if you have a product you'd like to advertise on the forums, PM myself to request permission - anyone posting without permission will have their username banned and the thread removed.
9. Ok, this is a big one - do NOT POST other peoples work if you did not make it or do not have permission to use it. This doesnt mean you cant post a link to a trailer, post up a link or inline imagetag a great pic you found, what I refer to is posting up an image and claiming it as your own.
10. You can use our tutorial end results in your showreels if you like however please give a small credit to us at the end.
11. Our IRC channel is affiliated to 3d-palace but is not a support channel and has completely different operators to the moderator set on 'palace.com.
12. We are not a democracy - the decisions of Moderators, IRC Operators and Administrators is final.
13. Whilst I understand and respect that some of our users are non english, I am seeing people posting utter inane crap on the forums - badly worded crap that looks like someone learned to write using a mobile phone. L33t speak, mobile phone language and moon language will result in a ban - we can tell if you are using translation tools compared to "hey r u da guy mayk VTM? - Giv me link!" Trust me, I will ban you happily.

Those should do for the moment - I will think of more possibly later on.

ADDENENDUM (ie, more rules)

SIGS.

I will tolerate sigs to a degree HOWEVER the following are NOT allowed effective immediately.

Political Sigs - I really couldn't give a shit about your political beliefs.
Abusive or Pornographic Sigs - there are special sites for that.
Those god damned gay thin sigs that you can assemble like some sort of a medal - I dont give a toss if you are "Awesome XBox Fan" or "Sucks off Goats" or whatever your thin little collection of sigs says - if you have skills in 3ds Max or Maya or even in punching swans then prove it - I take those small damn gay ribbon sigs as a sign of extreme gayness - remove them please.

Note to all mods - anyone using a sig with any of these three, please ask them politely to change their sig - if they do not comply, remove it for them and add a 10 point infraction. If they re-add them its an automatic ban for 1 month.
