XSI Biased viewpoint:
<begin>
"The software’s popular, non-linear animation editor, Trax, has been re-architected to become the focal point for animation. A new user interface, editing abilities and support for expressions and constraints means Trax gives you unprecedented flexibility."
"Moreover, Maya 6 now features a fully integrated web browser that can be opened up within a panel. This will allow you to instantly access helpful information as well as extend Maya’s user interface in creative ways."
Hmm... old hat, nice to see they're taking clues from XSI, though. It would be sad to see Maya continue to fall behind.
And from what I've heard (not seen), Maya's new Hair system is supposed to be pretty good, although... isn't it just based off of Joe Alter's Shave and a Haircut?

One thing I have to say though, is that this press release is sorely biased towards Maya "A software release that drives the evolution of 3D"? Pretty pretentious, eh?
Ahem... </end>
Anyway, nice to see that Maya is alive and kicking, anyone know anything about the company that bought Alias from SGI?

Only question would be what's the difference between the 6.0CG and the final product?

theres been quite a debate on other forums wether this realse should be a fll one or a point one. ie Maya 5.5 etc. To be honest looking at the feture list it is worhty of a full release.

A ton of stuf has been added, Maya isnt really lacking in any department, though they have left out a few things fro the next release ie Paint FX in Mental Ray. Though this might not happen at all.

Maya Hair looks suberb, though i doubt if i will be getting this relase soon, might get Maya 7.0 or 6.5 whatever comes first.

Very nie release, and i look forward to the new work utilizing its new tools.
