people that draw there own reference images

hi i was just wondering how many modelers draw there own reference images or do you just make a rough sketch of ur idea and not use refernces. i just think this would be intresting to find out.

references for complicated characters, although if its simple, i will just do a sketch and wing it..


That said my references are sometimes just basic shapes to make sure proportions are right...

I'm not very good at drawing but for characters I try to draw references pics. Even if I don't follow them exactly it's still very helpful to get the general shape right.

So far I've never modelled a character with a sketch, but I do make like 17,439,570,948,539,846,583,275,032 drawings of one before I start modelling...

if you only did 17,439,570,948,539,846,583,275,030 sketchs, then you could use the other 2 to make reference images :P :P :P

im a pretty average drawer and i was wondering when u draw reference images for characters do you draw a front and side veiw, if you do how do u make them even and the same . thanks guys
