I was just thinking about this because I'm sitting here at work reading 3ds max 6 animation by barret fox as recommended by Chris in tv palace episode 2 and also Ilka's "books to buy" thread.
Why not have a sidebar on this page where you have links to books related to 3d that we could buy from Amazon.com. It doesn't earn you a ton of money, but it would be a help. Obviously there are a lot of people here that buy books about this subject. Also, since you're recommending books to us in your tv episodes, we could buy them through you. I don't know how the Amazon associate plan works for people in the UK... just an idea for you. I know when I had a site years back that was getting WAY less traffic than this one I was making about $100 every 3 months from Amazon.
Anyone else think this would be a good idea? I personally don't like ads thrown at me, but if its for books that we might want, it'd be ok. Plus we would know that when we make a purchase we'd be helping out 3d-palace.

I think it's a great idea, I was just thinking about that a few days ago, in fact, when I was at another site. I think it was 3d-total, thay have that section at the bottom of the home page which is not " in your face" advertisement.
Cris could put a pic of the books he reviews with a link to Amazon or whatever book store he chooses.

The great thing about it is it requires very little effort, especially now that amazon's links finally show pricing and a picture... so for very little effort the links can be added to the site, we get what we want, and the site gains some cash, which helps us still... it's win/win for everyone.

I like the idea, as for all of the books I buy I go off of recomendations. I would gladly purchase all my future books through 3d-palace, if nothing else than knowing that I was helping.

If this place offered for sale the books and training material I am after I certainly would buy from this site over anywhere else, evan if there was a slight price difference.
Hell Id buy my guitar strings from here to if I could.

Just letting you know I listen to giid ideas, so if you pop on over to the Shop in the top navigation bar ( www.3d-palace.com/shop.php ) you will find that I have put up a US and a UK bookshop so that you can get any books you might like. If there is nothing there you fancy then hit refresh and I am sure something might turn up eventually.

Cool! Glad you liked the idea. I hope it helps you out some... I'm probably going to buy a book soon and will definitely buy it with your associate id (even if the book doesn't show up in the shop). At least I won't feel like such a leech, I'll know that some of my money is going to you, until I can afford to get a member sponsorship.
And who voted "No"?! I should've made two options for the poll, yes and yes. =P

Well I guess that is their opinion.. if they don't want to buy books here then it's fine.
But I guess my question could've been worded like this "if you're going to buy a book from amazon.com, would you buy it through a link to amazon from here so that Chris gets a percentage?" That was probably too long for a poll question though but that is basically what I meant.
The thing is, it makes no difference in price to the buyer, so why not buy it here and help out a site that helps you?
