Blizzard breaks Renderers!

Blizzard have put up a nice little interview with Nick Carpenter, the director of cinematics, over on the Starcraft 2 site. It's full of delightful insights into how they went about making the trailer, including this little gem:

You can read the interview here.

Nice Im going to read this.

Also Cris if you read this I think we have found a new DVD haha for 3D palace to top the poly count of the Ultimax, 5 million polygons seems good enough

wow, jaw dropping trailer, and nice article.
I've never played this game before... hmmm... i'll have to check it out.

By the way, do you know what applications did they use to make the trailer?

Well, for the Warcraft cinematics they always used Max so they might still use it. Apart from that it's Maya. But I like to think they're still using Max. That way I can make scenes like that. In theory anyway...

Blizzard uses Max for sure. They have a bunch of custom scripts that have been made for it so I don't see why they would have switched to something else. There is a cool video on Area about it http://area.autodesk.com/showcase/videos/details/4211/
