help - how do i improve animation(video) quality?

Hi, im an undergraduate engineering student working on a research project to simulate the A380s landing and taxing tasks at the Singapore intl airport to evaluavate the adequacy of aerodrome displays.
Im primarily using 3DS max to create the simulation, although im getting good rendered images of my simulation, the animation created has a very poor video quality.
I have tried to create the simulation at diffrent frames per second, but again that doest improve the simulation much.
Could someone suggest some way with which the video quality of the animation can be improved?Do I need to switch over to some other software? If getting a better graphics card could improve the situation?
In short how do I generate an animation with good picture quality?

Is there really a need for 2 threads with the same question?

Its all about what format you are outputting your animation and the compressor you are using. The default codecs won't give you very good results. And again this all depends on the filesize and quality you want.

quicktime is a good format for filesize and quality but there is a multitude of others like DIVX TSSC and the list goes on........

And yes there's no need to ask twice it makes you sound desperate LOL

i just tried to make the animation using different codecs/compressers.....
have tried Cinepak, Intel Indeo, Divx 6.6.1, Quicktime.....
though the filesizes and time taken to make the animation changes.....thrs only v slight difference in the actual video quality.....
im using a Nvidea GeForceMx 440 graphics card.....if tht makes any diffrence....
Since im making this simulation for research purposes, it needs to have a good video quality....so how are high quality animations created?

Without knowing exactly what you are after, im not sure...

BUT, 3ds Max, what renderer are you using? Scanline/Mental Ray/VRay?

Scanline: AA FIlter- Catmul-rom for sharp edges. If there is reflections in the scene, enable Global supersampling, change it to Hammersly, and make the quality 1.0
Save as a .mov file, and make sure that the settings is on Millions of colours, and make sure quality is on best.
You really are not going to get much better than that, but be warned the file size will be large for millions of colours.

NB:Graphics card is not an issue
