Whats Happening at 3d-Palace

Tutorial Development (Commercial)

When it comes to tutorial development, as many will know, I tend to find far too much on my plate a lot of the time. Because of this i have decided set my focus considerably narrower and instead try and get things done "one thing at a time".

So firstly, let me point out that I need to get the Cutty Sark ready for standard commercial release - it was going to be a limited edition however I have spent so long developing this set that it really makes no sense for me to release about 10 copies and take a massive loss on the invested time. This set will release mid Feb on the week of the 18th. Set will ride in on two DVDs with a load of bonus features, a pile of decent references and a lot of max models and so forth. It literally is Stormbringer gone Windpunk (I hereby copyright that term forever).

After that is released there will be the following sets;

GameDev 2 - Vehicles. At last a sequel to the great Character Development DVD, this time with myself and Greg working together - I am preparing a vehicle to be imported into the UT3 engine - 11,000 polygons with textures, normal map, specular map and so forth - Greg will then do the coding and technical bits needed to get it into the game engine - from that you will be able to play your modded UT3 with the 3d-palace ATV.

The Essential Guide to Max - Libram De 3DS Max, this multidisk set covers creation of a Transformer mech (that transforms), a Bio engineered killer alien, an environment and also features an encyclopedia like set of small video tutorials covering the 3ds Max interface.

Gamedev 2 needs to be finished first as I have to work within Greg's timetable. the EGM will take considerably longer and will be released mid 2008. Estimated release for the Gamedev 2 is probably the start of March should all go well.

-=-

Tutorial Development (free)

There will be a 2 gig release of free tutorials in the next three weeks. No further details at the moment - tutorials are for max by myself.

Tutorial Development (sponsors)

Sponsor members will be recieving a 4 gig set of tutorials in the next three weeks. No further details at the moment - tutorials are for 3ds Max and made by myself.

Physical Office

At the moment the workspace I am using is not suitable for 3d-palace video tutorial recording and I am looking to convert out a new area. The cost for this is not massively considerable however during an economic slump such as this, it may take me a little time to get the money together that I need - especially with no new sets due for release for a little while. I am working on it however and I will consider running a donation drive however as you know I REALLY hate running donation drives.

Anyway - about six hundred more quid in the coffers will get that sorted out and I will be able to record uninterupted again. If anyone says "Bank Loan" then go jump off something please - palace has managed for 6 years without one so far thanks The new office will have room for several desks, whiteboards, drafting tables and all that awesome stuff - in essence meaning I would be at last able to film drawing sessions to help traditional concept artists as well as all sorts of other expansions that would benefit the membership.

Ok, signing out - let me know opinions and things that you think matter.

Cris

Sounds like some great things are happening at the palace.

Cant wait for the new sets, all of them sound great, and the mystery surronding the free and sponsor tutorials makes it even more excited.

The new office sounds ace, be a good step forward for the future I think.

Oh yeh check your pm Cris!

Thanks

Sounds great!!! And thanks for keeping us in the loop.

I think a set of goals and then steady progression on completing one at a time is great!

Looking forward to all the new tutes coming out.

Regarding the office conversion as I have had a question or two about it, the amount needed to be raised is approximately £600 at the moment.

Sounds awesome.

Me and my brother just discovered Unity3d and while I don't have a mac at home as of now and can't participate in the coding I'm in charge of the 3d modeling.

I'm sure the gamedev tutorial will be of great help on that whole workflow.

Since the Essential Guide to Max has a Transformer in it, does that mean that the Rodimus set is cancelled?
