| | | DVD and Commercial Download Set - The Obelisk, in progress shots.
I put together an idea for a DVD and Download release that I wanted to put out to cover a Master Set in Science Fiction Ergonomics that I wanted to tie in with the sets Im putting for free and sponsor download in about a week. Im basing the idea on the Necron Monolith however as the monolith is pretty gay Im making my own version - this is an Obelisk (spelling was Oblisk however that was generally criticised). I took the idea of the Monolith, which as an idea is awesome, and reworked it as to be honest its just a floating wonky pyramid. The main design issues I have with it are making sure that it keeps in line with the overall design ergonomics of the Necron whilst being a lot more detailed yet still retaining its functionality.
Admittedly I could lob in the Greeble plugin and 4 iterations however it would look very gay 
The DVD is currently scheduled to be ready for release for the end of the week - downloadable version for midweek the week after - This weekend is scheduled for the new free and sponsor releases - touch wood.

Probably tuesday really if Im being honest that I will down my tools and consider this one done. Corner pylons are done now including the power conduits - I need to make propulsion systems which will mean trying to work out what kind of system this would use - Im suspecting some sort of meglev style thing would fit in quite well - scifi maglev of course as real ones look pretty dull and wouldnt power a massive green thing.
Anyway, lots more done, lots to do still. Weee.

you can see the starting mesh I used - originally the whole Obelisk was about 100 polys if that - Im using the method where I detach, detail and continue. Works quite nicely  This is really low on animatable parts so its pretty much a master modelling set.
