Post Maxterdam Post Event Thread

Maxterdam 2008 is over and - I hope - a good time was had by all! It was a great event this year and I was pleased to be able to meet some new students of all abilities.

Day one we covered limb building and provision of detail and ergonomics. This topic ran for the entire day during which the participants built the mechanical limb - some members of the class were quite advanced in skills allready however I hope that there was something to learn none the less for all.

The evening of day one, everyone was invited to join myself and Amanda for a bite to eat at the restaurant near the hotel I was staying at. The meal was excellent and the company doubly so - after the meal we took a relaxed walk up to the Leidsplein for a quick drink then parted company so that we would all be fresh for the next day!

Day two we started with IK, Rigging and simple animation coupled with spline controllers. In the afternoon we covered the joy of Particles with some simple work at first explaining systems and then moving on fast to a complex event led set of scenarios. The day finished up with a wired controller system to operate opening doors as a request.

Night two was the Party Hearty - we started again at our hotel - our brave party of nine immediately went out to explore the cultural centers of Amsterdam.

45 Minutes later we left the Red Light District headed for one of the watering holes - we moved slowly from the station up to Korsikofs where there was suprisingly a 0% attrition rate. The group broke up at 3am for sleep and - in my case - a massive walk back to our hotel which was about a trillion miles through a deserted foreign city. It was a nice walk however my feet regret it now.

Big thanks to Amanda, Ron, John, Greg, all the guys from Staffs and all the Netherlands guys who came, it was great to meet you all and I had a great time as usual (with no killer hangover for a change too)

Thanks for a fun and interesting event.
Both the sessions and the pub crawl was great. The treehouse place was nice, except the heating problem!

We missed the pan-cake-with-all-kinds-of-yummy-toppings-canal-boat-tour!
I hope you enjoyed that one :P

I will probably be able to convince me better half to go again next year

Cheers,
Ron
