I'd really like to work for Animal Logic - probably the most well-known shop in Australia.
I know I'm no where near good enough to work there.
For a chance to work there - free or otherwise - I'd do it.
If it was an internship, I'd have to grab a 2nd job.
I guess I'd be hoping that they'd hire from with-in and I'd ultimately get a paid position there.

well, you know... they are hiring for happy feet 2.....
anyway... some people wouldn't work for free, some people would, to those of you who would work for free at a sweet studio, just be grateful for those people who wouldn't give that position a second glance (now you have less competition for said position)

I am no where near the point at which i am looking for those types of positions, but absolutely if i were magically offered one i would accept it.
I am sure the company would compensate you in some ways, even if they are minor.

Wow I didn't realise how aggressive my post was until I just re-read it. :O
I still stand by what I posted earlier, just didnt mean to come across so harshly. No offence intended with the "For anyone to say "No I would'nt" without prior thought needs to seriously think about what they want to do" line Setsuka!
Oh well seeing the new year in agressivly, and with dodgy spelling as well I suppose

Wow some excellent posts thanks all.
Im just doing some research on the topic, the reason why I said part time is Im mainly thinking about graduates so they could work another job in order to help pay the bills and/or travel costs etc.
I myself would jump at the opurtinity, if someone offered me an unpaid position, if I could do it then I would.

I'd only do it for a big studio; connections, foot in the door etc

I almost had an internship at a company, I did have the position. They told me it was mine, then they never did the follow up to get me to sign the NDA etc.
Then when I contacted them, it was not a very nice e-mail conversation. To say the least they wanted me to work for free, I wanted to be treated better then someone not even remembering anything about me, or doing any follow up.
They even told me in the interview that I sometimes might even have to do coffee runs. I don't even drink coffee. It was not the setup that I was hoping for, it was a lot of people working on an internship, (found out after the company ran out of funding, so they were getting people to work for free to try to get their job finished)
So, even though I voted yes, it would have to be a well laid out company, lets just say my standard for working for free would be a hell of a lot higher then being paid.

Just a small note to add, the interview was my first real interview i've ever had.
I've had a lot of jobs, however being from a small town everyone knows me, or my family. So I was normally hired on the spot for my jobs.
So the internship was good experience in that regards.
