Yeh it can sometimes be tricky to match the two monitors, which is why hopefully when i upgrade ill get two monitors same make and model, make life a bit easier.

Found a nice large simple desk from good old argos, will give me plenty of room for my monitors and other crap, plus giving me room to use it as a standard desk for writing and drawing.

One thing I want to add to my computer work desk (which is a corner unit with one main platform that is slightly higher (2cm maybe) than the other two raised platforms on either side of the main unit) is a desk lamp. And maybe one of those big round magnifying glass things on an adjustable arm.

For the times that I've either studied blueprints or even working with sprue and other tiny bits of a (real) model. It would be nice.

Well, now that I've found it, I'm gonna have to get it.

[EDIT: Okay, bought one off e-bay. whew - I feel better now]

haha YES my Dream Desk for when i get my second video card and triple 24" monitor setup.... <poof> wakes from dream. Oh well wishful thinking right? I'll have to get a picture of my desk up. Its a bit cramped like i said but it works.

As for the monitors I went from 1 17" to 2 of the same LG models. I got them on sale for $189.99 a year ago, and they are 2ms response time monitors. Only down size is they are only 1680 x 1050 so not quite HD. Also this doesn't happen too often, but be a aware it could happen that not everything is the same on the two monitors. My monitors seem to have a slightly different height, which took me a little bit to get used to. I'm not talking anything huge, but its slightly noticeable. Also they monitors have different Angles. I mean if i push them all the way forward or back the max/min angles are slightly off too. Again nothing that makes me abhor the monitors, but it took a little getting used to as its slightly off. I would love to go to a triple monitor setup. I have gotten quite spoiled by 2 monitors I must say. I haven't gone with three yet because of the money, and Weighing whether or not i would get the use out of it. i hypothesize that gaming would be better across three though haha. I tried Gaming across the 2 I'm using now, and it worked really well. but was too stretched for me, and not to mention the cross hair is right in the middle break between both monitors. Sooo scoping things in counter strike was a bit hard.

Dual Monitors :: Vista or XP? A software Question

Actually Writing that reply made me think of something. Of all the people on here using Dual monitors... is it A 32 or 64 Bit, and is it Vista or XP? The reason why I ask is that when I had this dual setup using my old 8800GTX on XP 32 Bit using the supplied Nvidia Software, when I set up the desktop, I could span the desktop. (For those who don't use Nvidia or Dual Monitors) That is to say spread the desktop across both monitors. Its something I didn't use that often, because I didn't like manually tweaking every little window to fit either on one screen or the other. I use Dual View. (For those who don't use Nvidia or Dual Monitors) Which is where the desktop space is spread between both monitors, but they are configured independently. I can still drag stuff from one monitor to the other and use the desktop space as spanned, but the start menu is only in one monitor, and all games pop up in the primary monitor, and when you put say a web page in one and full size it, it only spans one monitor.

Now the question I have is in Vista 64, I do not have the option of using a spanned desktop. I can go into the help section of the NVIDIA Control Panel and it tells me how to do it, but the option just doesn't exist where it tells me to look. Which to me is very weird. I had the option in XP32. Never really checked when I had xp64 on here to see if its just a 64 bit issue, nor have i checked with Vista 32 because on my laptop I don't have dual monitor ports. Its nothing i need to know, I was just curious cause I went to play Counter Stroke Source spanned and I wasn't able too.

I have XP64 and can span monitors/desktops.

Must be a "Vista" thing...

Well now i have my new desk which I must say im veryy happy with I am very tempted to get two of these:

Samsung SM2032BW 20"TFT Monitor Widescreen 1680x1050 3000:1 300cd/m2 2ms VGA/DVI-D Glossy Black 3 Years Onsite Warrany - Ebuyer

As for the span mode, it doesnt seem to exist in vista, im using vista 64 bit and dont have the option to span, prehaps there is an update for it, dunno havent updated my software in a while.
