Okay it's been awhile. I got rid of the snow on the trees, and now I am going to create some geometry for the snow.

Okay I kinda took things in a different direction, but just slightly. Kinda going with the santa cave idea.

Below are just a few progression shots.

Yeah thanks for the info/comments/suggestions Flux. So far I think this is the furthest I have gone with any project but I just want to complete this, and a competition is a good inspiration.

I won't be able to play around with this scene too much longer, as work and the kid are getting a bit needy.

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone that has criticized my scene, as I have learned alot.

Any more updates? Really nice. I think it'll look nicer with a depth of field.

Depth of field? I think I understand the concept but not sure how to pull it off? I will look into it..

Okay so here is the first Depth of Field test render. Not sure how this works. and so far it's taking about 1 hour and 13 min to render.

The scene is 1.14 million faces and 2 lights.

Let me know that you guys think.

If you are using Max 2009, try converting the trees into Proxies.

With just 2 lights, it shouldn't be taking that long to render.

I like the scene - reminds me of the Christmas specials I use to see on T.V. when I was a kid.
