| December Challenge - Results
I have to confess, I had an ulterior motive for the subject of the December challenge. You see, Im heading off to warmer climes soon, so I wanted to see your coldest, most freezing scenes to remind me of Blighty while Im sunning myself on a tropical beach. And what a result! But enough with the niceties - the serious business of picking the winner awaits and Im sure all those of you who followed the competition want to know if your favourite entry has won - not least the participants who pulled out all the stops to deliver some truly inspiring scenes. Well done to everyone who entered - the judging was particularly tough this time. All entries were of high quality.
First of all, lets get the news on the beginners challenge out of the way. Unfortunately, no beginners decided to take up the challenge - no entrants met the criteria and in any case I though all entries were good enough to stand up in the main comp. In light of this, the beginners prize of the downloadable Dreadnought 2 set has been reallocated as a second prize for the main comp.
In second place we have a particulary chilly scene - a rustic cottage lost in some remote alpine wilderness. Well done to Pheebs - you have won second prize in the December challenge.
What attracted me to this entry was the detail on the hut and sleigh. Really nice work on the texturing Pheebs!
For first place, we have an excellent entry set in a wintery future. Well done InProgress - you have won first prize in the December challenge.
What I liked about this entry was even though it has a clean, uncluttered and even minimalist tone, it is still rich with meaning and the imagination is left to fill in the story. I particularly like the juxtaposition of the dystopian, nuclear-winter-future with the caring maternal touch of the robot.
Well done - details on how you can collect your prizes will be sent to you shortly.
So thats another challenge over. Join us again at the end of January for the next 3d Palace challenge!
