My first time jumping in as well, isn't it exciting? Love your cartoony style, I'd never thought of doing anything like that.

I suspect the lessons you learn from entering a competition like this are more important than the prize itself...

Thanks for the encouragement guys. Lost the plot with this more than once now. Will persevere nonetheless.

Heres a quick render with a test of how the camera will be. Got two choices, the other is a lower angle looking upwards but cuts off a little of the bottom of the houses.

Also began texturing and lighting. Trying to create as sunny a day as possible without blowing everything out. Little tweaks here and little tweak there. Lots of rendering

Obviously you can see loads of stuff that needs tidying up. Just my progress to date.

Crits welcome.

Thanks atrain. Quite happy with the texturing part so far. I do enjoy this part the most i think.

Lots of modelling still to do though.

Redesigned the second houses porch bit. Was never happy with it so went for a more open plan look. Hoping to maybe have some crawling ivy and/or plants throughout but have no idea how to at the moment. Learning all the time though.

Some things have not turned out how i wanted or visualised but overall am enjoying this whole process.

Dreading the ground. No idea how to make grass

Quick update. Spent some time now trying to get an unrealistic grass on purpose. Also wanted a footpath in the foreground. Little additions like rocks/stones and some colourful flowers etc before finishing up.

Crits welcome as always.

Tsukiyono leaves a faint aroma of banana
I think the grass lends itself nicely to the rest of the scene. Is the background a painting?

Yeah, I think the grass looks fine the way it is - the only thing I would suggest is throw something on top of where the grass meets the walkway - maybe a curb or something.

I also like how it looks like these houses are sitting on top of a small world with the curvature there - definitely gives it that cartoony look.

I like this entry, good idea. Coming along nicely mate, nice sense of style reminds me of the Loyds/TSB adverts.
