Smile Abandoned Train

Hi!

Here's my final image on the "Abandoned Train"... I used 3ds Max and Photoshop. I was lucky to count with lot's of support and tips in the WIP forum that allowed me to expand myself and my idea!
Hope you all like it...

Thanks! Textures aren't my strongest skill but it was one of the things that I had to improve with this scene... I'm glad they did the job of "telling" a story about the cart and give it some character!

Those textures are nice. They look a lot like Half-Life 2 trains. Good job. I think texturing is one of your strong skills. You just need to maybe work on the grass a little bit. The train is really well done though. The grafitti and stuff really makes it look like an abandoned train.

Loks awesome mate, just out of asking did you do the blurring in photoshop as it looks a little off on the floor, almost as if it was done with a brush.

Also the blurring near the barrel is a lot more blurred than the barrel itself which gives it a bit of a fake look.

These are all very small points, but we are all here to improve

Sorry... don't quite understood you BiroBoy...

Thanks modelstatue and BiroBoy for your comments. Before this WIP I never had gave much tought on texturing but know I start to see it's (enourmous) possibilities and my own capacities... But I still have tons to learn... anyway, it's a matter to wich I'll pay more attention in the future!
Now to answer to your questions: The grass... I know, it sucks! Next time I will render it in a separate max file and add it in photoshop... usinh hair (thanks for the tip BiroBoy)... but I only thought about this after I posted... so I just used a plane...
Yes, most of the blurring was done in photoshop and I applied filters WITHOUT a filter layer so I couldn't go back... Now I know better! Amazing what you can learn with your mistakes!!!

Thanks again

Hahahaha,

Before you come online a spambot had posted links to crap on this thread, he has been killed off and all posts deleted since, so you probably knew nothing about it

So, dmacb, what else have you made? I recommend starting an abandoned tank next. With your texturing skills, you can really make an abandoned looking tank. Your textures of rust are just amazing.
