Exclamation UT3Fadeout - The Official 3d-palace Recruitment Thread

So - think you have what it takes to create a complex mod? Think you can handle being shouted at by a cruel line manager whilst working long hours to produce something that just might be an awesome mod?

If you ever wanted to make a mod, learn about teamwork in a non-gay-Thundercats type way, learn some useful skills from active mentors and generally have a pretty good time AND have something you can actually put on your resume at the end, then this is a mod for you. You don't even need a load of awesome modelling and texturing skills to start with - just pure keeness and a willingness to learn.

As a request from the venerable Darktrancer, I have taken the challenge for 3d-palace to produce a simple racing mod in Unreal Tournament 3 based upon the idea of the game Wipeout. Players fly round a massive track trying to shoot each oter off, outrace or just cheat their way to victory. We will create one track, one collection of ships and a mod to encompass them.

So, heres what we need.

You.

Simple.

We are looking for 3d artists, texture artists, level designers, prop riggers, UT3 coders and someone to make the tea - you dont need a mass of skills and each week the person we decide has worked hardest will recieve a prize, culminating in - at the end of the project - the overall best team player recieving the Darktrancer Award for Team Participation. This is a mystery prize however we promise that it isnt crap.

So, you want in, you apply in here. Tell us what you want to do - we get started on the 20th!

I'd be very interested in joining. My skills include modelling, texturing and general inappropriate jokes. Seriously though modelling and texturing are where my skills lie however i'm a keen learner so would be interested in helping where I can I've got limited experience in the UT3 engine (aka not very much) but would be willing to pick up what advice i can

I may be interested in this also. Modelling & Texturing's what I'm more used to but if it's possible to learn a few other bits and pieces that would be great. I use Max and Photoshop, but may like to try using mudbox or Zbrush for extra pimpage.

I've imported into UT3 editor before but still have yet to learn to use it properly.

I've not ever modeled specifically for a game before so may need some tips on poly counts, texture sizes etc.

I can make Tea like noone else, as long as you like it Strong.

Good luck with this guys, I only wish my current job allowed enough time for me to get stuck into a project like this.

p.s. My coffee isn't bad either.

I'd be able to do modeling, possibly texturing too, as work is finally beginning to quieten down with the ship in refit.

I'm still a novice but I'd be able to help with modeling, and I've fiddled around with the Unreal Engine as well.

And I make damn good tea.
