Spitfire

So I started the Spitfire. Early days yet so not a lot to shout home about.

for those that are interested, it's a MkVb, I'm not going to use the clipped wing tips so it'll be a bog standard affair.

First time using an airbrush, which I have to say is a whole lot easier than using a paintbrush when you've got quite a bit to paint! Still needs 1 more lick of paint, and then I can stick on the second colour. Fingers crossed the paint hasn't bled underneath the masking tape like it did on my last P-51 D Mustang.

@350kilotons - you mentioned the eggshell colour for the underbelly, that was the later camoflage scheme so will be painted a light grey colour. The top camoflage will be green/grey.

Still undecided about the highlighting, I've never really done any so don't want to ruin what I've done.

Second coat of grey, looks much better this time round.

Next up is to add the green camoflage patterns.

Looking good. One thing for future reference is to underpaint your model. Essentially all you do is airbrush all the panel lines, connection edges and the like with thin black lines and that way when you put your colour over the top you have a shading layer already as the black will show through the lighter basecoat.

For highlighting, make sure you don't lighten your colour with pure white. For example, greens are best mixed with yellow to provide a more natural colour gradition. Use an ivory white or a white with a warmer tone than the usual pure white for extreme highlighting, but make sure you keep the extreme highlights very tiny.

Can't wait to see more, please keep posting pictures and progress.

Looking a bit more like an aircraft.

Still looks a bit plain, decals need to go on really.

That's some good lookin' plane. I think you should rough it up a bit, make it look used.
