importing .png maya sequence to aftereffects

i imported a png maya animation sequence into after effects and it squishes the image size. i rendered the maya render at 720x480 and used a compession at ntsc widescreen(12) which is 720x480. but at ntsc(.9) there seems to be not wrong. is there a way for me to do this at widescreen 720x480 without squishing the png sequence?

well im not too sure but when you rendered it in maya did you do it at the wide screen 1.2(9:5 aspect ratio)? or you just used 720*480? which is 4:3 aspect ratio.

You may also want to check your pixel aspect ratio, because if you're rendering out images that have non-square pixels, that can cause the image to look squished when displayed on a computer monitor.

I'd try first importing the image sequence into Quicktime and making a self-contained movie, then import that movie into After Effects. It could be the pixel size within your PNG. Not sure what the difference is exactly (never bothered to research it) but square pixels vs. some other type of pixel causes this for me. Importing then exporting from Quicktime solved the same issue for me.

I think what may be happening is that After Effects sees that the frames are 720x480 and is assuming that they are in NTSC format, and therefore it's automatically setting the pixel aspect ratio to be non-square, which will make your footage look squished. So, if this is the case, just set the pixel aspect ratio to 1.0 and everything should be fine (I've never used AE so I can't tell you how to do this).
