Maya 8.5 crashes

I am having a really annoying problem with Maya on my school computers. Every Maya does its automatic backup to the Temp folder the application crashes, but the work is saved. (This is on all the computers and my teacher would like to know the answer as well.) My question is, is there anyway to disable Maya from backing up scenes?

Should be - have a look in the preferences. If it's not there you'll have to ask someone who uses Maya (or look it up in the help files) - I know for max it is!

Before you disable it, you could always try changing the directory of which it saves. I don't know how to do this in maya or if you can, it was just a thought however.

A problem that large the school should be contacting Autodesk. Since it is not just limited to one computer.

Well I did browse the manual looking for informaion on the backup system all it states is the directory, no way to change it or disable it.

It usually crashes about 2-3 times in an hour and a half time period.

My teacher says he will contact autodesk if he can find no information but his experiances with autdesk support haven't been very good. (they shipped the wrong license keys and it took about 3 weeks to fix....)
