Duplicating then rotating round a circular object

Hi guys,

Ive completely forgotten how to do this

In the dreadnought tutorial, it shows Elbaz (if it is elbaz doing the tut) duplicating the foot then rotating it around a circular object. In my own modelling ive come across a situation where i could use this handy method to cut down my time....

But i cant remember how to do it!!

Can somebody give us a hand please

Cheers

Id guess it would be done by moving the pivot to the centre of the round object.

Then you can duplicate and rotate the object, then it should remember the settings and you can duplicate multiple.

Or you can use the duplicate with transform i think its called not sure havent used maya in a long time.

I think its the insert key to edit the pivot point.

Hope this helps.

Need to find what angle your section of a circle covers (4 parts is obv 90 degrees etc), set the angle snap to that angle (right click on the angle snap icon on the toolbar), change the pivot the the centre and then shift drag rotate and put the number you need.

edit: Just the principle of what I said, didn't realise this was in the MAYA section, sorry

Insert key--->move pivot to position wanted--->hit insert again--->shift-d (to duplicate with Maya remembering the settings you are about to change)--->move to position--->hit shift-d as many times as needed as it will duplicate to the degrees previously rotated.
