Subdivison Surface Problems

I'm working on a tutorial using a subdivision surface to make a monster creature. My first problem is when it's in Standard Mode:

That wireframe with the vertices wasn't there before. I also have a problem in Polygon mode.

As soon as I move a vertex in Polygon Mode, the model turns clear and you can see through it. It makes it hard to work with, since you can't see the surface. Does anyone know what I did? I was checking an earlier version I'd saved and it works fine. I must have messed something up since then, but I don't know what.

if you still need a solution for that, try this - > simply assign default lambert material to the surface, this should solve that bug
