How do I create water in a fishbowl

May I know how do I create the water contained in a fishbowl, with a fish in it?

The fish would be swimming, and also jump out of the water.

Thanks in advance.

If your having the fish jumping out of the water, and the water deforming around the fish, I would advise you to use real flow, if you have it.

If not another approach would be to use soft bodies, although I dont think this would work aswell.

The water in the bowl is simple if you dont want the fish jumping out and deforming it. The main thing to get a realistic water is to use caustics and IOR do create the effect of water.

fishbow ...

The modelling of the fishbow you will wangle, then you create the surface and you can apply an oceanshader to it. Open the visor - there you can find some ocean-examples. pickup the example you like and fine-tune the parameters ...

good luck

I would model the bow and have a plain on the top for the water surface. As the above comments say, apply a good animated water material to it.

For the interior water environment, i would create a particle system for some bubbles floating around and then apply a glass texture to the bowl.

I would also apply some shaders to create the illusion of water from a side view.

I would not go about creating water in a bowl, i'd make a bowl and fake water being in it. Its all about animating the light and the way the water affects it and the effect the lighting and shadows give on the objects in the bowl.

All depends on how long you want to spend on it. Realflow is propbly the easiest option then considing the time when having to mess around doing the above suggestions.

Thanks guys, I will test out on the methods suggested. I have to work with tools in Maya due to budget constraint, so no RealFlow
