Tips and Tricks in MAYA

This thread is aimed to collect some nice tips and tricks for Maya.

What are the best techniques you use to streamline your Maya workflow?

I want to start with a somewhat hidden shortcut I'm using over and over in Maya:
If you want to restrict the movement (within the move tool) of any object simply CTRL-click on one of the manipulators (X,Y or Z-handle) in the viewport. For instance, if you CTRL-click on the X-handle then all movements in x-direction are locked. To unlock the restriction just CTRL-click on the yellow square in the middle of the manipulators...

heres a quick tip :


to open a previous version maya scene file in 2008 or 8.5 , just click options box next
to open scene, and make sure ignore version is selected.

[ ] to undo the last camera move. Very handy.
