GUI issue with Maya 8.5 and laptop

I'm hoping someone can help me figure this out because it's starting to really annoy me. I recently purchased a new laptop and installed the same Maya 8.5 Complete version that I'm using on my desktop. My desktop version works fine with my monitor and I've had no problems. However, when I open Maya on my laptop my Perspective view only shows the left half of my grid. The right half is cut off. If I open the Attribute editor then almost the entire grid is visible and usable and I think that's because the interface covers over the BLANK SPOT on the screen. Now, here's the crazy part. If I put an object on my screen and move it to the right side of the screen it disappears behind this BLANK SPOT on my screen but my mouse pointer stays visible on top of it. Also, in the upper right corner of the screen, the X,Y,Z indicators are still visible. I've gone through every possible setting in Maya that I could think of to fix this crazy problem but nothing's worked. I've also re-installed and I still get the same issue. Anybody out there ever experience this before? Please help.

This is quite a common issue with maya and I think its intel chipsets that cause this issue, what you wanna do is go into intel graphics settings, and change the colour quality to 16bit instead of 32 bit. That should solve the problem.

SuperTom 44 you certainly know your stuff. The Intel Chipset advice you gave me was right on the money. Thank you so much for the advice. All the best to you mate.
