Would you like to help a new artist as a Mentor?

If you have some 3d artistry skills, or even photoshoppery or traditional drawing, it would be really great if you could consider Mentoring on this forum.

We have a LOT of newer 3d artists that are just looking for a way to start learning - the tutorials help (I hope) to a degree however nothing is quite as good as some good old direct assistance from a Mentor.

What you have to do as a Mentor

Give advice and help your adopted newbie. They will start a thread where they want to do something that will be within their eventual skills - I would like you to help them reach that goal they have set. You can help them by looking over their 3d models, advise on what to do next, whatever you think helps in fact.

How is this moderated?

I will keep a regular eye on mentor threads to make sure that the newbie thread is not too far fetched in scope and make sure that arguments and so on are not tolerated in here. As will the usual team of 3d-palace moderators of course.

Is it one Mentor per newbie?

Yes. Any more than that would send mixed messages in my opinion, so please - first mentor who picks the thread keeps it.

What if I cant continue as a mentor / cant help the newbie?

Just say in the thread - theres no shame in not being able to take something further. Hopefully another Mentor can step into the thread.

What benefits do I get as a mentor?

None - however I can honestly say that whether you are teaching one person or teaching thousands, it can be an incredibly satisfying and rewarding experience.

If I want to be a mentor what do I do?

Just say in this thread, along with what you think you would be good for helping people with - that way the newbies have a directory of mentors (they cant pick and choose, however it will give them an idea of what help is available).

Can I use Messenger and other things like that too?

Sure, however please keep the WIPs in the Mentoring Area so that we can enjoy the progress of your newbie.

I will start the ball rolling.

Just start a wip thread after reading the guide for newbie wip posters in this forum, then wait on someone taking you under their wing.
