Format and software question

I have a question for anyone here who can help. I work with 3DS MAX, and have just started working for a new client. The client is a Macintosh user, and does not have any prior 3D experience, but would like to be able to look at the files I create in order to give input.

We need to figure out what software package he should get, and what format I should send files to him in, that will keep as much information as possible from the original file (including, preferably, bones animations, morph targets, etc). Is there any way to actually do this?

It depends on what kind of 3D app your client will use under Mac. Your best bet is FBX.

If the scene/object you're creating involves texturing and unwrapping, it's better to use .Obj as it supports the UV layout.

Thats something i would never do. Does the client really needs the file itself to give you feedback ? If he is not an 3D artist he wouldnt even know what he is looking on and how to change it...
If its about the look of the model, do some renderings, jpgs can be opened on every system, he can quickly add comments in ps and send you back the file. If its about animation use the Animation -> Make Preview command of max and send him the video file. Dont give away your files, believe me it can save you a lot of trouble. This will also save the client a lot of money he had to spend for a 3D application.
