Mudbox 2010 Problem ( Includes ScreenShot )

Hi guys , well first let me introduce my self. Im dayan , this is my first time i visit this forums and also first time use of MUDBOX. So if this error was talked before my bad i did not find it in the search box , or maybe I just entered the wrong search keyword's.

Anyway my problem is that i cant seem to load the mesh "normal". As I seen in other videos and help section of the program it self the normal mesh that you choose in the startup of mudbox will load with a orange looking type of material. Well not in my case , it just comes out black when I choose the "sphere" mesh or even any other mesh. The pic bellow shows how it looks.

So my question is , why does it come out black ? Is it normal ? or am I missing something?

ALthough the mesh does work when i do ( rightclick > Assign new material > simple blinn material )

Any help is appriciated.

you graphics card doesn't support the extentions mudbox needs by the sound of it. What graphics card are you running?

Sorry but your graphics card just isn't up to working with mudbox, check the minimal requirements for mudbox

Alright well i kinda saw that. Well but since im able to put the " simple blinn material " , i was able to actually see what i was modeling.Im also able to reach polygon level 6. Only problem is i cant paint on it, since the material doesnt support the paint layer or something like that.

Is there anyway to fix that ?

Yes...a new graphics card lol. Being serious for a moment its due to the fact that older or les powerful card do not have the extensions and hardware doo hickies to actually be able to do those things.... there is no work around or hack for you card to sort that. The only way around it is a new card I'm afraid.

Zbrush leverages power from the CPU rather than the graphics card. Doesnt need as much uberpower from your system. Give that a try.
