Angry lighting prob, have no lights present, yet everything is totally dark

I cant figure this out and neither can a friend of mine who knows more than me. I had some lights used but then deleted all of them. when i render now, everything is pitch dark. i can makeout my stuff barely but its just total darkness. If there are no lights being used, shouldnt you be able to see everything at a default light of some type like when you start a new project? Could i have maybe turned that off?

Maybe you just deleted the default light as well.

That's the point. You accidentally deleted a default light. Just create another one and it will be fine.

Try to mark 'use default light' or something equiv. in the rendering panel. It may be that you had turned them off xhen adding the first non-default light.

Couldn't you just import the model into another file? If nothing else works that should probobly solve the issue. Even though it might not be a professional solution

i exported into a .3DS file an imported back into it. that did work but lost every skin or color i had used. Everything is now some default gray that i cant seem to change to anything else.

ALso just tried an FBX file. It opened it keeping all the colors and textures but still having the same lighting prob. When i exported, i told it to not include any lighting in case that was the prob....a stray bulb somewhere off in the distance.

ugh, this sux!

Rather than Exporting and losing your materials, open a new file and use the "Xref Objects" option on the File "Pull Down" menu. This will allow you to reference in the model from the lightless file. Once the model has been xref'd into the new file, you can Merge it into the scene and then use the "Pick Material from Object" button in the Material Editor to extract the materials from the model.
