Question ways to create trees and bushes?

Is there any trick or template type thing when it comes to making something like a tree?

If your wanting 3D trees, then you will need to check out Onyx ,NATFX ,
or SpeedTree

I bought Onyx last year, its not the easiest program in the world but it does do a good job of generating foliage

Is that its own program or does it work with 3DS somehow?

You can make it without any outside plugins from Max: It's on 3dtotal and you may need an account to see it, but it's a great tut. Look at LEXICON"s first post. Shrubbery/Tree and Leaves (3ds max) - Threedy Forums
