Setting up blueprints in XSI

Hello guys !! Well ive finally got around to starting my transition form rhino to XSI (its just soooo easy to stay with my rhino comfort blanket !!)

Anyway as you can see ive started the famous Max fiat 500 tutorial as i could't find anything similar XSI specific But i think the theory is the same ?? Anyway i was wondering if there's a better way of setting up blueprints than rotoscope, in the max tut they use image planes. I tried to put the images on poly grids but i can't get them to show in the viewport ?? theres probably a really easy explanation (apart from me being XSI illiterate !!!)

Anyway i was wondering if anyone would be willing to give me a qiuck run through ???

1) On your viewport, you could set view type to "textured" by clicking on the button with "Shaded" label on your screenshot. By doing that, all objects will be shown as textured.

2) A better way: If you only want to see your blueprints with textures, you have to select your blueprint objects and change their display property from "Automatic" to "Textured" (Set "Textured" on all display state comboBox). On your viewport settings, uncheck the property "Override properties" to make sure to use your objects properties instead of viewport display setting.

Hi Giant. Glad you're finally getting to grips with XSI.

Also:-

If you click on that little pallette symbol. (BTM Left in 4.2) you can set how individual items are displayed and what colour the wires are.

There's also this ultra-snazzy way of doing it.

http://www.joncrow.com/tutorials/xsi...ence_movie.avi

It's vid. It's badly named as rotoscope technique. It's really an image plane technique.

You can animate the visibility of the ref planes. Select them, click SELECTION, dbl-clock visibility, click the little green box next to visibility, hit the right arrow key, uncheck visibility, click the green box again. Now you can toggle the planes with your arrow keys.
