Exclamation A Farewell to the Queue

For the next month I will be testing a new download system that means I can finally be rid of the queue -

The new system means that if you want a tutorial and it is available to you - ie Non sponsor for standard members - you click and start the download. The only restriction is that you have a daily (not monthly or weekly) limit in order that you do not abuse the system on a user / ip basis (this stops people regging 10 times to download loads - there are also methods we use to stop people with similar ips and so on)

Allowances then are as follows
Free standard member - 350 megs a day
VIP Group (regulars) - 700 megs a day
Moderators - 1000 megs a day
Super Moderators - 2000 megs a day
Sponsor Members - can pretty much do as they please

Im sure the allowance system will irritate some people, however if you are reading this then the chances are you are a regular user anyway and the limitations will not have as high an impact. I am aware that some files are massive and may be beyond the daily download limit for a non sponsor/ vip / mod user and I am working on this.

Meantime - you may have noticed that there are a LOT of tutorials back. I even saw the Troll when I was relinking... I didnt link it in.. New free tutorials uploading this week.

Cris

This sounds good, what I really would like would be a index where you have listed what is available to members and what is available to sponsors.

Now I have to browse the different categories and when clicking on the tutorials it sometimes shows I need to be a sponsor, I have then wasted 0.01 milliseconds of my time due to the fact that I needed to browse to it.

EDIT: I notice that you have different categories now, probobly should have been best to check it out before opening my mouth...

Also the accuracy of what you get for a sponsor membership in the shop is not up to date, at least not the last time I checked.

Maybe put a render or two in the tutorial download also so you don't download something that you don't want.

Else, I like the idea with download limits, 350 Mega is a couple of tutorials 3-10 (depending on size), who anyway has time to watch that many in a day.

Hurrah... no more queues!!!

Great idea! The only problem is with massive files but maybe you can create something like an if statement... if the download is smaller then 350 ->download. else...
if download is bigger then 350 and downloader has 0 MB then...

Man... I started talking in pseudo-code... I need to lay down...

sounds like a good idea, I sure I have more tutorials than I'm ever likly to watch and do.... but I like to have them just in case.

and thus the digital pack-rat has been born. Oh wait that's probably why I ended up with 3TB worth of Hard drives :P

All that aside, I like the where this is heading Cris. The new allotments seem fair, and I do agree more sponsors = better stuffs.

Well I do like the new simple click to download system - all apart from the fact that despite being a sponsor member, I have the 360MB limit annoying me!! :P

Any chance of taking a look at that Cris ?
