3ds Max Workshop in Amsterdam 24th July - 120 Euros - Maxterdam
There are still tickets available for the Workshop 3d-palace is running on the 24th of July in the center of Amsterdam in the Netherlands. If you have an interest in learning more about Hard Surface Modelling, Rigging Techniques for Mechanical Pieces, Particles and also Ergonomics of Modelling then this one day session in the heart of Amsterdam will be ideal for you!
The workshop starts at 10am with introductions and a hands on lesson on building high detail hard surface models - in this case a racing vessel. The class will follow along as the demonstration covers concept and roughing (scaffolding) the model out, followed by detailing the piece to second and third level manually plus use of SubD, fillets / chamfers and more.
Lunch is taken at 12:30pm following which the class convenes again so that we can concentrate on setting up a particle system - the particle system is used to drive the racing vehicle around a track, allowing other vehicles to interact with it causing collisions, avoids, cutting corners and so forth to be built into the system with the race winner decided using random seeds or defined settings.
After that the class will take a 10 minute break and then gather for a session on particles to be headed by our guest speaker. Pete Draper* will be talking about and discussing particles used in effects and simulations and this will be an invaluable part of the days event.
Finally there will be a discussion and Q&A session on mechanical rigging using a premade piece with demonstrations on theories of animation, limitations on movement and use of secondary animation. The piece rigged will be a complex 1m poly + bipedal walker and a high detail mechanical tentacle.
The class will finally break up at 5pm - later that evening students are welcome to come join us for a drink and relaxing chat.
The cost of the entire days event is 120 Euros - thats approximately £103 or $165 at current exchange rate. If you are travelling from Europe then you can get there easily by train, the venue is approximately one mile from Centraal Station in Amsterdam just walking up the main shopping street to the flower market. From the UK you can get flights for 99p each way (plus surcharges/tax) using

The Dreadnought DVD Tutorial on 3d-palace, a set that dates back to 2005, has been completely rebuilt to bring what we think is the ultimate in training DVD sets for any artist wanting to learn 3ds Max for modelling or animation or effects. In a first for 3d-palace we have taken the ideals seen in Master Seminar sets and Live Seminars where we show a selection of useful skills, and we have combined it with the larger project based sets that our users have came to enjoy and want more of. What we are left with is a staggering two DVD set that you can use either as an end to end project to create this animated, beweaponed mechanical monster that shoots fire and flame whilst holding aloft its proudly animated banner - OR you can dig into the set and reference parts are you need them!
Learn modelling, animation, rigging, constraints, secondary animation, unwrapping, concept planning on paper, scaffolding, limiters, animation dynamics, IK, FK, FumeFX, Afterburn, Particle Flow, accurate lighting simulation, rendering, texturing, procedural texturing and a LOT more.
