ah, so this has been announced publicly. neat. ben spoke at the softimage leadership summit at siggraph. seemed like a pretty smart guy.
his previous work has involved tetrahedral fluid sims with support for level sets (meaning scaleale rendering). as to what's to be in xsi, mum's the word. they talked about a few things at siggraph, but either that was pseudo under nda or they just don't want general announcements about it (maybe they haven't really set anything solidly yet)

hmm does sound intersting. fluid simulations are always interesting (and procssor intensive lol) I'd like to see if this could handle showing the aerodynamics of a car or a plane. thats where fluid dynamics can be used.

my guess is no. this is for artistic use of fluids. physically accurate sims are best done in cad type software.
