new space fighter 4 battle scene

This is the basic model for a battle scene I'm working on. It is the first time I've used sub-d and although it is in no way exceptional, I don't think it's too bad for someone with no formal training and very little time to practice. Of course it is in no way done as far a modeling, got some tweaking and guns to add, plus detailing. I should mention that except for the missles, the model was created from a cylinder and everything extruded off. So, tell me all the mistakes and your thoughts on the models concept.

Hi,

Thats a great looking concept ship you have there, my only possible crit is looking at your 2nd pic. It might just be the camera angle but the nose and fusealage don't look center...If you look at your missiles underneath they are offset.

But like I said it might just be the camera angle

I believe it's the camera angle coupled with the missle pod having a curved shape, like a smile, ironic I think. The ship was created from a vertically sliced, across the end, cylinder and then mirrored to create the whole.

Just a bit of an update. Added some guns and tried to tweak the canopy a bit.

Looks nice and smooth
Maybe there are some small mesh errors, but Im not sure (next to the cocpit).

Are you going to texture it ?

Demoniq,
yes, there are mesh problems all over the place, lol. I made a few mistakes while creating the thing, mainly not turning off sub-d when converting back to edpoly after adding a modifier. Had a bunch of flipped polys also, but fixed those. But this was a learing project for me, as I mentioned i have no schooling and little time to learn everything without trial and error. This was just an idea that popped into my head one night while driving so gave it a shot.

Lovingsaskia,
yes, green is quite displeasing to the eye for display. Will change it to clay when I find the post on how to do it again.

Thanks to all who have taken the time to offer opinions and help locate the problems. When I finish this learning session I will start over and make it again without the mistakes and then texture it.

Oh, a question. When working with sub-d, if you wish to have parts not in sub-d, such as the guns, should I only link them or just create everything I wish in sub-d first, then add the other stuff after?

ok, here's a clay render for lovingsaskia. FYI, poly count is just under 58,000.

nice one mate can see it a lot clearer now, a unique design I think and should look very good once finished and textured. Are you going to place in a scene and animate or is it just for a still?
