Decent start... hands look a tad small, proportions are a bit weird and that face is something only a mother could love, hopefully. I think you're on the right track tho. Perhaps look into more character modeling tutorials for further knowledge?

Man, that guy got hit with the ugly stick more than once! Is this your first attempt at character modeling? I guess now you understand the importance of using reference images? I'm sure your next character will look much more well proportioned.

There are lots of good, free, tutorials online. Just do a Google search. Here's a good one: Modeling Joan of Arc

I am not sure myself, but from what people have told me about the Joan of Arc tutorial, it seems that a long as you know the tool set of Maya you shouldn'r have any problem following the MAx version as it is more about how they go about it more than the app itself.

Sorry, I didn't know you were using Maya. I don't think there is a Maya version of that tutorial, but as BiroBoy said, as long as you know the Maya tools, you should be able to follow along.

Or do a Google search for Maya tutorials. I'm sure you will find some free ones out there.
