Powered Suit Delivery Vehicle

Hi Folks,

Well I just started on this one and so far I am learning alot about thinking ahead. I just started with a rough concept in my head of an armored transport for Mechanized power suits. I have a desent rough sketch of what I want the general shape to be but now I am trying to figure out how to put it all together. I spent almost an hour trying to get the door to open properly without having an external hinge.

Well I hope you like it so far although it is not much at the moment.

All beginnings look like a box :P

Most impotantly... do you have a power suit / mech?

It's all fine and well to have a dropship, that dumps em on the ground.. but you need to know WHAT it has to dump on the ground :P
I'ts pretty important as how your doors/ramps work, if it's just peeps in armour a simple door is enough, if it's peeps in heavy armour, say WH40K spacemarine like armour, a ramp would be better.

What i like to do, even if i never model it, is think of a background story.

I have the basic idea of the mech, more the heavy WH40K type so I have the ramp style door and it is already created. What I am having problems with is the armature to open it and the proper connection.

Starting fresh

Okay after trying to create the inside after making the outside I decided that a new approach would be better. There are several holes that still need to be filled but I am thinking that this gives a better understanding of the concept.

I basically started by creating the inside first and then the outside on just half of the model mirrored and made some adjustments.

any tips or tricks would be greatly appreciated

Looks like your using a 'roof' part for the ramp... imho, don't, looks silly and puts a lot of stress on the opening systems (if you want go all relaistic on me :P).
Rather, lower the gear and just use the bottom/side for a ramp.

Yeah I agree. I have the "ramp" broken apart, will probably just adjust where everything goes. Thanks for the recommendation.

No probs

Might want to use a skelleton for size, i find it usefull to get everything in the right scale. (allthough a cimple cylender or box works just as well)

There is going to be a small lapse before the next shot. I am currently working on a few things to set the scale and hopefully help with the visualizing of how to create the interior and whatnot. I never thought it would be so difficult to create an outer and inner shell for something, but just getting the two to connect convincingly is very difficult.
