Dreadnought

Well, this is my version of the big bad dread. It's a wip due to the fact that I need to work on the environment and texturing. I got the download version of the tutorial, so I didn't get the texturing part. If anyone has any good techniques that aren't as fricken scary as UV unwrap, I'm all ears.

I am proud of the modeling though. I changed some things that Cris did because I thought it would be better. Also, I didn't add as many rivets and such, but I may get to that later.

Any crits you guys want to give me, give away. I'm a glutton for punishment.

HERETIC! Burn the witch! Joke aside, it looks really good. Even though UVMapping is scary you should bite the bullet and go for it. Sooner or later you'll have to learn UVMapping

Thanks guys. Honestly, the rivets started to really slow down to machine. That's why I wasn't too enthused about adding them.

Oldblue, this tut was fantastic. I've been wondering around the ole internet for years trying to figure this stuff out, and with your way of teaching, I've finally been able to make a robot. Thank you so much! In a few months, maybe I'll have that APU all done up right.

I know InProgress, but it's like learning how to model all over again. I'll give it a shot and see how it comes along. Would you recommend adding the modifier to all the different parts or should I do it all in one shot?

Different parts...always on different parts, unless you have one big object. Then it's good to separate them. As for the rivets slowing down your machine...well, use layers. Turn off what you don't need and your machine won't be slowing down when it isn't needed.

I agree with In-Progress... Try your hand at uvw mapping and unwrapping and the like. I followed part of the Wipeout from the MAsterseminar 2. I just worked on a little icon for my computer just to remake it and such. Really helped out and got my foot started on the whole Mapping things. I would definately reccomend giving it a shot.
