lo-poly eye with foot

Here's a character I made. It doesn't look complete, but it's hard to decide how and where to start detailing it. All the wrinkles and pores should be in textures and maybe Zbrush. I made extra edgeloops around the eye to make it less smooth. What can be done in Maya to make it more attractive lo-poly character? Anything about knuckles or nails to make it easier to texture? I really want to concentrate on modeling, not texturing/rigging/animating at this time. Maybe it's unreasonable?

Also, the space between fingers - does it look too synthetic? Is there some good reference to look at to get inspiration? Any advice will be very highly appreciated and taken seriously.

Thanks a lot!
Anna

Looks good so far. What's your polycount limit? Since it's a low ploy character, you should delete the back half of the eye, as it won't be seen anyway.
