Smile Dreams.....You're the man!

What more can I say that I haven't already? Dreams you are the man! Thank you so much for all of your help along the way and this tutorial is extremely helpful to all of us jsut trying to get better at max and who want to create photo-realistic looking scenes. It is great that there are people out there like you who are willing to take the time out to help us Noobs out. I definitely plan on picking up the next tutorial on dvd when it is done so save me a copy.
So far everything that I have seen from you either through your site or your WIP's have been awesome. Keep up the great work! I look forward to seeing your future work and also creating great work of my own. This tutorial has given me a ton of inspiration even though you say it is simple it was just what I needed to come up with a good starting point. I know you said I need to work on my shadows but I thought I should post my version of the tutorial for others to view. I'll work on that as I add more stuff to the scene.
I used two paintings I saw at the Memorial Art Gallery here in Rochester, New York for the wall and carpet floor. I used Photoshop CS2 to edit the cubist painting to look like a carpet texture with some filters.

The first link is the omni light version and the second link is the light cache version:

Once again, Thank you very much and God bless you bro!

Lookin good.. just keep tweaking. You're never really done with a model.

Thanks for the kind words and your DVD will be on my desk waiting

Problem Loadig page...

Hi, I was able to download 2 of the tut video, however, upon getting the rest, I got the "problem loading page....site timed out" so I stopped and waited a few hours. Unfortunately, it was the same thing after waiting. Is the site really busy or is it just me? It's been a day now and I still get the timed out message.

Tried downloading the other tut, but the result was the same.

Sorry for being off topic... but I really like the tut judging from the first two video. Now if I can only get the rest....

Good luck on your big project D3D. I'm sure it's going to be a hit.

these were some fine looking interiors although the only thing I think I could comment on would be the lights.

This one here has to be an excellent peice sure the light setup went through some tweaking.

This one here had way to much light I am glad you decided to tweak it. I didn't notice the changes till I put the two together.

D3D hey..

Thanx for the tutorial. I just finished watching them. I have learned a lot on the modeling part. I really liked the way you came up with the seams on the chairs and sofa, and how you dealt with the crome bars.

I really enjoyed watching your tutorial You have a really easy and understandable way on breaking down your totorial into simple terms.

I'll be working on a different interior scene, and will post something that i might be able to put into a portfolio with this tutorial.

I do have a question....Since you threw this tutorial together quickly, and might not have payed attention to lighting as much because of the time it takes to tweak etc.etc...

Is there a way to get rid of the hard edges on the light source from the window? To me it looks a bit too harsh. I'd like to add a little blur just don't know how..

Anyways, thank you for your tutorial, and looking forward to seeing more on archiviz for sure. Is there any chance on telling us how much your new dvd tutorial will cost? thnx ahead..

Keep up the good work..

Thx for the words.

2 things to note here:

Yeah I threw that free tut together quickly so I didn't spend a lot of the time on tweaking that I could have. As far as that harsh light, ya know, I rarely even use a direct light anyway because of the use of vray shadows with it, its rather sharp. Now looking on my floor right now and the sun casting shadows of my blinds, they are very sharp so I have to say its spot on. You can soften it up by adjusting the contrast and whatnots in the rollout. I mainly use a vray light set to a sphere as my sun normally but to each his own.

The other thing is the dvd. I will most likely be posting images of the work in the next week or so to give people an idea of what you'll be learning. As for the price, I haven't made up my mind yet but it won't be jaw dropping, unless it's because its so cheap for what you get:

REMEMBER ALL THIS IS STEP BY STEP.. NO OFF CAMERA WORK (that was the hardest part)

1. CADimporting
2. interior building using splines
3. interior modeling trim work, custom windows and a custom use of max's doors, tray/vaulted/cathedral ceilings.
4. modeling a complete interior from room to room all of which includes a bedroom with master bath, foyer, living room, kitchen with breakfast nook and dining room
5. modeling all the furniture in each of the rooms including the small props (light switches, electric outlets, recessed lighting)
6. texturing the scene using vray materials and multi-subobjects
7. lighting each room using ambient lighting techniques, vray lights and IES lighting
8. rendering out the scenes using Vray

I may do a quick set up for a walkthrough animation if I get around to it or maybe not. Thats undecided yet.. I have a lot done already and like I said, will post some WIP's so you can see.. or maybe not. I may just wait til its done and show. Either way, expect a release sometime in May.
