Thanks Budweizzer I tried to give it some randomness. Essentially the wings are both instances, but I left spaces so that I could place other buildings or other greebles onto it.

Nice model, I even took the liberty of saving it to my reference picture folder.

Yes good old Red Dwarf. I guess it 'loosely' resembles starbug's bulbous appearance, then again maybe not lol I must admit to my eye the ship is very spherically pleasing. However, it does look like mitchum mans personal runaround. Another nifty mini craft design that gets forgotten is the blue midget.

its a very 70s design there - classic Space 1999 kitbashed look going on.

Cris just looked up those words 'classic Space 1999 kitbashed' not knowing what it meant
. I found some really interesting models on the subject on Flickr and now I see what you mean. Talking of 70's model design, I'll have to dig up my UFO series DVDs.

Lovely and clean although you need to adjust your angles as it makes it look like quite a small object in the render.

Here's a newer model that I had been working on. The stills are just a basic A&D matte material with the AO switched on with a low reflection. I added some basic omni lights around the perimeter to give it a tinge of colour. I've also made a short turn table animation.
